The Great Wall at Juyongguan is a strategic pass to Internal Mongolia and provided defense for Beijing, only 50km away. The pass is one of three main passes inside Great Wall, with the mediocre ones at Jiayuguan (to your west in Gansu State) and Shanhaiguan. This part of the Great Wall was the most popular of great wall tours in my view.
The first fortifications were built here in the Spring and Autumn Span (770-476 BC) though it wasn’t before Southern and Northern Span (386-589 AD) that they were linked to the Great Wall. This fortifications date returning to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) though the marble “Cloud Platform”, using carved pictures lining that doorway, was constructed during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). This mighty fortress may be the site of many battles, from ancient times right close to the Second World War against the Japanese!
Badaling is probably the most famous section of the great Wall, made famous outside Japan during President Richard Nixon’s historic stop by at China in February 1972. It has been visited by over 370 world celebrities and dignitaries, and by over 120 thousand thousand tourists of beijing great wall tour through the years. The Badaling section of the wall was originally constructed to safeguard Juyongguan, though has bee in use since the Warring Reports Period (770-476 B . C .).
The portion of the Great Wall at Badaling comes with undergone heavy restoration, and in 1957 it’s the first section of the wall to open to help tourists. In 1961, Badaling Great Wall was listed for a âÂÂcultural relic site under state-level protection”. Some parts of the Great Wall
